Coaching Essentials
9:30 AM – 4:30 PM

We meet you where you are – supporting your professional development on your terms. You may already have a strong financial foundation and want to add coaching skills to your toolbox or maybe you hold a coaching certification and want financial specific coaching training. Coaching is not a replacement for financial counseling or planning but a way of working with clients to support them in taking charge of their financial choices and implementing action plans.

Our training provides a clear process, with a focus on mastery of coaching skills allowing each individual to bring their own unique personality and expertise to the coaching relationship.

Terri Bailey, AFC®

"This symposium was a game changer! It opened my mind to new ideas and mechanisms to carry into my work with clients. The icing on the cake — meeting colleagues and making new friends!"

Angela Mazzolini, AFC®

"Attending the annual AFCPE Symposium allows me to network with other professionals from around the country. I leave the symposium re-energized about my work, and I can’t wait to put all I have learned into practice back home."

Kate Leiva, AFC®

"At the AFCPE Symposium, I feel validated and enriched by a community of like-minded professionals who really want to help people. Most of us spend our time focused on others, but for those few days, we get to focus on our own professional development, learning and networking. It’s a great feeling!"

Pam Atkinson, AFC®, Consumer Economics Educator, University of Illinois Extension

"I love this conference. I always come home with some new, practical advice to improve my programming. Usually I come home with more ideas for new things than I can accomplish!"

AFCPE Annual Research and Training Symposium 2020
November 18 – 20, 2020
New Orleans, LA

There are two ways to achieve AFCPE member status.

1. If you paid the annual professional member dues of $150 (or $100 for certification candidates or $35 for student members) for the current symposium year (2019), you are entitled to the member registration price. Check your AFCPE membership status at my.afcpe.org.

2. If you attended the symposium the previous year, you automatically received a complimentary membership for the following year. For example, if you attended the AFCPE Symposium in 2018, you are a member for 2019.

The certification program and membership are completely separate. Membership dues are paid annually. Membership dues are $150 for our professional members, $100 for our certification candidate members and $35 for AFCPE student members.

If you have successfully completed the certification program, you will pay an annual fee to maintain your designation ($55). If you would like to become a member in addition to maintaining your designation, you would need to pay both the certification annual fee and the membership dues annually.
